Professional Development: Introduction to Premiere

Syllabus

Expectation:

This is a professional development course so learners will be assessed on task accomplishment and milestones in lieu of grades.  You are expected to learn the material while providing encouragement and feedback to your peers. The work should provide you a sense of accomplishment and a basic understanding of Premiere.

Grading: This course is Pass/Fail. All three modules must get a pass grade to complete the course.  and get credit toward the one step salary increase. Find more information at HR webstie.

Module One: Introduction to Premiere - Edit First Video
Module Two: Editing with Graphics and Titles
Module Three: Basic Video Effects and Transitions


Objectives:

Main Course Objective: learners will have a basic understanding of non-linear editing.

Objective One: learners can open Adobe Premiere and start a new project.

Objective Two: learners can load audio, video and graphics files into their Premiere project bin.

Objective Three: learners will be able to tell a story with audio, and video in a Premiere timeline.

Objective Four: learners will be able to export their video sequence at an appropriate resolution and frame rate.

Objective Five: learners will be able to upload their video to their college provided Media Space account.

Objective Six: learners will be knowledgeable of video links and embed codes.

Objective Seven: learners will be able post the video link and embed code to the discussion forum in Blackboard.

Knowledge and Skills:

1. Learners will be able to launch Adobe Premiere CC and start a video project and sequence.

2. Learners will be able to load video clips and still images into their projects.

3. Learners will understand the basics of the timeline and construct their video.

4. Learners will know how to export their Sequences and upload them to a media server.

5. Learners will be able to share a link to their video and provide an embed code.

Materials:

Required:  Access to the Internet, this course on Blackboard via your myfscj login, and Adobe Premiere CC which is provided by the college in the Faculty Resource Centers (FRC), Digital Labs, and Campus Library Adobe Computers.

Thumb drive (i.e. flashdrive): usb 2.0 or greater, 8gb capacity or greater.
Class Files (see steps 2 and 3 in Module One).
Suggested Tools for Editing at Home:
Desktop/Laptop capable of running Adobe Premiere CC:  System requirements here.  Video clip(s) you want to edit.

Class Location: Kent Digital lab - everyone will have access to a computer with Adobe Premier CC.
Class Size: 15 (maximum)
